MARTIN SISK
HELLO THERE! I'M MARTIN SISK.
Technician. Musician. Theatre Maker.
MISSION STATEMENT
I aim to make the world a better place than I found it. I do this the only way I know how, by contributing to the making of beautiful, important theatre. I strive in all my work to add value to the art, not just the production. I love to work on theatre with a strong message of love, hope, and action. I seek to work with other artists and collaborators who share in this vision for a cultural coming together of all peoples in order for us to all better ourselves.
ABOUT MARTIN SISK
I hail from the great city of Seattle, Washington. I grew up attending Seattle Children's Theatre on a regular basis, between my family's season tickets and frequent school field trips. As I grew up, my family added me to their season tickets to Taproot Theatre, just down the street from my childhood home. I attended Bishop Blanchet High School, where I participated in various theatre department activities for all four years of my time there.
I was accepted to and attended Gonzaga University as a Theatre Arts major, where I studied theatre history, design, production, and participated in several productions of both the faculty-supported and not-so-faculty supported kind. I attended the Kennedy Center American Collegiate Theatre Festival Region VII three of my four years there, where I learned from professors and professionals from all over the area. I am now a senior who is looking to jump right into the world of professional theatre, both a bit nervous and excited for what is to come.
SKILLS
STAGE MANAGEMENT
I have experience managing and calling shows, from simple to more complex. I have worked as a team member and independently. Importantly, I have learned to read music. I have experience creating several different types of paperwork.
SCENIC AND LIGHTING DESIGN
I have taken courses in both scenic and lighting design, having designed model boxes for unproduced sets and light plots for unstaged productions. I have designed lights for several shows and dance pieces off of repertory plots.
BOARD OPERATION
I have worked with all forms of hitting "go" in a booth. From lights to sound to projection, from QLab to ShowCueSystems, from intelligent to less-than-intelligent lightboards.
SOUND MIXING
I have hands-on experience working as a live mixer in both concert and theatrical settings. I have worked with a Behringer X32 and a Yamaha LS9 in the past, but can learn the basics of a new soundboard fairly quickly.
